Safe seating

At Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, 10,000 car seats have been fitted for families—an important milestone since four out of five car seats for kids are used incorrectly, putting children at risk. The Maggie Adalyn Otto Safely Home Car Seat Fitting Station is operated by certified technicians, including Benjamin Arias (pictured), who check to see that the seat brought by the family is not damaged or defective.

They will make sure the seat is a good fit for the child and will give parents instructions and demonstrations on how to properly install and use the seat, and how to place the child in it. Packard Children’s is the only hospital in the Bay Area to offer a free car seat fitting service.

For an appointment, contact Benjamin Arias at 650-736-2981 or barias@lpch.org.
