Med School 101

Lariel Mateo-Bautista, a student at Westmoor High School in Daly City, listens to a mannequin’s heart during a session on “virtual” medicine at Med School 101.

Mateo-Bautista and about 150 other students from eight local high schools attended courses on topics such as stem cells, sleep medicine, endoscopic surgery and brain tumor research at Stanford’s Li Ka Shing Center for Learning and Knowledge.

The daylong gathering is an annual event organized by the medical school’s Office of Communication & Public Affairs and sponsored by Stanford Hospital & Clinics to help Bay Area teens learn more about Stanford, medical school and science.
